Tunisia weather: Bizerte spared as storms, heat, and wind warnings issued for other regions

Tunisia is set for a day of contrasting weather on Sunday, July 26, 2026, with Bizerte being the sole region spared from significant weather warnings, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).

While Bizerte remains in the "no particular vigilance" zone, the majority of the country remains under advisories due to potentially hazardous conditions. The Greater Tunis and Cap Bon regions, in particular, are bracing for strong winds that could gust over 60 km/h, especially during cloud passages. These areas are advised to remain vigilant.

The INM forecasts the development of local storm cells accompanied by rain and, in some places, hail. These phenomena may be intensified by wind gusts exceeding 60 km/h, particularly during storm episodes. Southern Tunisia faces additional risks, including sandstorms that could reduce visibility and disrupt travel.

Beyond the immediate threat of storms and wind, the weather service anticipates hot to very hot conditions across the country. The arrival of the "chergui," a hot, dry wind, is expected to cause a noticeable rise in temperatures, particularly in inland and southern governorates. The INM urges citizens, especially those engaged in outdoor activities, to stay alert and monitor updated bulletins.
