Turkey Launches 'Narko Kapan' Operation in 14 Provinces, 382 Arrested

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced the launch of the 'Narko Kapan Gaziantep Operation,' a coordinated effort across 14 provinces targeting drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the apprehension of 382 suspects out of 548 identified individuals involved in illicit drug activities.

The operation, which stemmed from six months of detailed technical and physical surveillance by the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department under the coordination of the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, aimed to cleanse Gaziantep's streets of drug dealers. Minister Gürlek emphasized that no quarter would be given to drug barons, pushers, and their digital networks that threaten the future of youth, the peace of families, and the security of cities.

Of the 548 suspects identified, 75 were already in correctional facilities. While 382 individuals were taken into custody, investigations are ongoing for the remaining 91, including four who are fugitives abroad. Minister Gürlek extended his gratitude to the Gaziantep Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Gaziantep Provincial Police Department, and the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Narcotics Crimes Department for their diligent work.

Minister Gürlek reiterated the government's commitment, under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership and in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, to mobilize all state resources in the fight against drugs and organized crime. He issued a stern warning to those who endanger the future of the nation's youth, stating that the state's presence will be relentless.
