Turkish influencer Fatma Soydaş faces arrest request over social media posts

Social media phenomenon Fatma Soydaş faces a judicial demand for her arrest following her detention over controversial posts. Prosecutors in Ankara have requested her formal jailing, alleging that her content on TikTok and Instagram violates specific articles of the Turkish Penal Code, including insulting religious values and public incitement.

The investigation was initiated after images, reportedly generated by artificial intelligence, circulated online and sparked public debate. Soydaş was apprehended in Istanbul. During the investigation, access to her social media accounts was blocked. She has maintained that the images were purely fictional content created for entertainment purposes.

Soydaş also asserted that she has no emotional ties to Efe Beycan, an individual who appeared in the controversial visuals. The prosecutor's office stated that the investigation is proceeding meticulously, and the case has been referred to a criminal judgeship of peace for a detention decision.
