Two accidents at Kaohsiung Port in 14 hours involve trailer trucks

Kaohsiung Port experienced two separate traffic accidents involving a trailer truck within a 14-hour period, raising concerns about safety in the busy port area.

The first incident occurred on Tuesday evening when a trailer truck malfunctioned and scraped the walls of the tunnel while reversing. The truck was no longer at the scene when police arrived, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and driver for further action.

The second accident took place Wednesday morning at Pier 71. A trailer truck, driven by a Mr. Xue, ran over the foot of a woman, identified as Ms. Li, who was cleaning the ground. The woman sustained injuries suspected to be fractures but was conscious and transported to the hospital for treatment.

Emergency services, including the Kaohsiung Port Fire Department, responded to the second incident. The exact cause of the accident and responsibility are currently under police investigation. The port has a high volume of traffic, and these incidents highlight the need for vigilance among drivers and pedestrians.
