Two arrested at Malaysia petrol station for illegal sale of subsidized diesel

Authorities in Sabah have apprehended two individuals suspected of engaging in the illicit trade of subsidized diesel, a crucial commodity for the region. The arrests were made at a petrol station in Kota Kinabalu after enforcement officers from Malaysia's Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) noticed the suspects taking an unusually long time to refuel. Upon investigation, it was discovered that their vehicles had been equipped with modified tanks capable of holding up to 1,000 liters, with approximately 800 liters of diesel found in each. The suspects were unable to produce the necessary documentation for such a transaction, leading to their detention and the seizure of the diesel. This operation underscores the government's commitment to combating smuggling and leakages of controlled goods, ensuring that subsidies benefit the intended recipients. The KPDN urges the public to cooperate in these efforts to prevent such illegal activities.
