Two dead, child injured in Lanzarote bus-car collision

A tragic head-on collision between a tourist bus and a car on the Spanish island of Lanzarote has resulted in the deaths of two people. The accident occurred on the LZ-2 road, which connects the island's capital, Arrecife, to the southern coast, in the municipality of Yaiza. Two other cars were also involved in the incident.

The deceased have been identified as an Italian couple who were traveling together in one of the cars. A young boy, also in the car with the couple, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including an elbow injury, and was transported to the hospital. A 36-year-old passenger on the bus also suffered injuries.

Emergency services, including police, Guardia Civil, medical teams, and firefighters, responded to the scene. Firefighters worked to free individuals trapped in the wreckage. The road was temporarily closed, causing significant traffic disruptions. Police are currently investigating the circumstances and causes of the collision.

This incident is the latest in a series of fatal road accidents on the Canary Islands. The report recalls a previous accident in April on La Gomera, where a bus carrying British tourists plunged into a ravine, killing one person and injuring 27. In May of the previous year, a similar tragedy occurred on the same road on La Gomera when a public bus overturned, resulting in one fatality and 11 injuries.
