Two killed in 62 disaster incidents in last 24 hours

Nepal has experienced a surge in disaster-related incidents over the last 24 hours, with 62 events reported nationwide. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) confirmed that these events led to two fatalities and injured 15 people. The disasters included a range of natural calamities such as floods, landslides, drowning incidents, and snake bites, affecting various parts of the country.

According to NDRRMA spokesperson Shanti Mahat, two individuals died from snake bites, with 11 others injured in separate incidents. Landslides also caused injuries, affecting multiple districts. The authority reported that 11 roads were blocked due to landslides and floods during this period. The estimated economic loss from these disasters is substantial, calculated at approximately 1.2 million Nepalese Rupees, in addition to the loss of six livestock.

The NDRRMA's daily bulletin detailed the types of incidents, recording 26 landslide events across 18 districts, 13 snakebite cases, eight fires, seven instances of continuous rain, five animal attacks, and three flood incidents. In response, 267 personnel from security agencies were deployed for rescue operations. The authority had previously issued warnings and made preparations for potential disasters, anticipating moderate to very heavy rainfall across the country.
