Two "Los Perrillas" Suspects Processed for Extortion in Mexico City

Authorities in Mexico City have advanced legal proceedings against two individuals identified as members of the criminal group "Los Perrillas." Carlos "N," also known as "El Perrillas," and Roberto "N," or "El Nini," face charges of aggravated extortion. The prosecution alleges that the pair demanded escalating weekly payments from a local merchant in the Tláhuac borough. Initially, the victim reportedly paid 2,000 pesos weekly, a sum that "El Nini" later increased to 5,000 pesos. When the merchant refused the higher demand, her establishment's furniture and materials were allegedly destroyed, forcing her to close the business. She filed a complaint with the Fiscalía CDMX on July 10. Investigators identified the suspects through video recordings and a photo recognition process, leading to arrest warrants. Both men were already in preventive detention at the Oriente Men's Preventive Prison, having been arrested on July 15 for drug dealing charges. A judge has ordered them to remain in pretrial detention, with a two-month period set for the complementary investigation. The "Los Perrillas" group is known to be affiliated with the Cártel de Tláhuac and operates in southern and eastern areas of the capital, with alleged involvement in homicides, drug trafficking, and various forms of extortion.
