Two Mechanics, Including a Person with Disabilities, Charged with Reckless Driving

Two mechanics, one of whom has an intellectual disability, were brought before the Magistrate's Court in Kulai to face charges of reckless and dangerous motorcycle riding. The incident occurred on the Linkedua Expressway in Gelang Patah approximately one week prior to the court appearance.

The accused, identified as 26-year-old Mohamad Riduan Abd. Ghani and 25-year-old Muhamad Aiman Izzuddin Sukri, both pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read separately. The prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Lee Weng Hong, sought bail set at RM10,000 for each defendant, emphasizing the need for a deterrent example.

Representing Mohamad Riduan, lawyer Amarpreet Singh Rajwinder Singh requested a lower bail amount, citing his client's monthly income of RM1,700 and his responsibility to support his wife and ailing father. Muhamad Aiman's lawyer, Abd. Rahim Ali, highlighted that his client is a holder of a disability card and resides at his workplace in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur.

Magistrate R. Salini ultimately set bail for each defendant at RM5,000, requiring one surety. The court also scheduled October 5 for the next mention of the case and the submission of documents. Separately, Kulai District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee, confirmed that nine other suspects, including a motorcycle influencer involved in blocking roads for illegal racing, were released on police bail.
