Two men charged in Pando bank assault; third suspect detained

Uruguayan authorities have formally charged two men in connection with a brazen assault on a Banco República (Brou) branch in the city of Pando, Canelones. A third individual remains in custody and is scheduled to provide further testimony.

The first man charged, aged 43, is directly implicated in the robbery. He faces a stringent list of charges, including three counts of especially aggravated robbery, drug supply, illegal firearm possession in public places, aggravated receiving stolen goods, illegal firearm trafficking, and aggravated criminal association, all to be considered in real reiteration. He has been ordered to serve 180 days of preventive detention.

The second man charged will be under total house arrest with an electronic monitoring bracelet for 180 days. While his direct link to the robbery itself was not definitively proven, his involvement was established through the possession of firearms found during the investigation's raids. He has been charged with illegal firearm trafficking.

Adding to the ongoing investigation, police are actively searching for two other men believed to be involved: 38-year-old Inti Camilo Cuba Vignolo, who was seen on security cameras without covering his face, and 32-year-old Paul Alexander Cosella Cabrera. The Ministry of the Interior has issued a warrant for their arrest.

Interior Minister Carlos Negro commented on the case, stating that the investigation has been relentless since the incident occurred. He indicated that investigators have identified nearly the entire group responsible for the assault and that more arrests are expected imminently.
