Two men rescued from rough seas in Los Cabos; one suffers head trauma

Two men were rescued from the sea near El Arco de Cabo San Lucas after encountering difficulties in the water, with one sustaining a head injury. The Mexican Navy's Maritime Search, Rescue, and Surveillance Station (ENSAR) in Los Cabos received an emergency call reporting the men in distress in an area known for high surf.

The Navy activated its "Plan Marina Rescate" and dispatched two Defender-class boats, along with rescue swimmers and naval medical personnel. Upon arrival, the rescue team located the two Mexican nationals and successfully extracted them from the water. Initial medical assessments confirmed that one of the men had suffered a severe head injury.

Both individuals were then transported by sea to the Cabo San Lucas Naval Sector dock. Paramedics from the Fire Department met them there and transferred them to a hospital for further specialized medical care. Following the incident, naval authorities issued a plea to visitors and tourism service providers to adhere to access restrictions in high-risk zones and follow official guidance to avert further accidents.

El Arco de Cabo San Lucas is a popular tourist destination, with daily boat tours. Service providers are aware of the proximity limits and restrictions based on wave conditions. Occasionally, visitors attempt to reach the sandy area exposed under the rock formation during low tide, a practice that carries risks due to both the terrain and tidal changes. Weeks prior, authorities had temporarily restricted access to El Arco and Playa del Divorcio due to strong waves and undertow, displaying a black flag to prohibit entry.
