Two new state awards to be introduced in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is set to introduce two new state awards aimed at recognizing artistic and cultural contributions. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has approved the addition of the Shamsı Qaldaiaqov Medal and the honorary title of “Honored Artist of Kazakhstan” to the nation's list of state accolades.

Aibek Smadiyarov, an advisor to the President and his press secretary, announced the decision, emphasizing the foundational role of culture and art in Kazakhstan's national identity. He noted that the country's new constitution enshrines comprehensive support for national culture as a core state principle.

The Shamsı Qaldaiaqov Medal and the "Honored Artist of Kazakhstan" title will be bestowed upon citizens who have made substantial contributions to the advancement of national culture. The focus will be on individuals excelling in fields such as music and the visual arts.

This move coincides with the recent 96th anniversary of the birth of Shamshi Kaldaiakov, a prominent composer and People's Artist of Kazakhstan, who lived from 1930 to 1992. The introduction of these awards highlights the government's dedication to honoring and fostering cultural development within the nation.
