Two Soldiers Killed in Houthi Drone Attack on Yemen’s Marib

Two Yemeni government soldiers died and seven were injured in a drone attack by the Iran-backed Houthi group on the Harib district of Marib governorate on Monday. This incident marks the second attack on Harib in recent days, signaling a continued escalation by the Houthis.

The Houthis have intensified their assaults on government forces, following recent attacks on al-Mokha city and its port on Yemen's west coast, as well as on Marib, Hadramawt, and Dhale. The ongoing hostilities underscore the persistent instability in the region.

In response to the escalating threats, authorities in southern and eastern governorates have called for heightened vigilance. Sultan Ali al-Aradah, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, stressed the importance of alertness in al-Mahra governorate. He emphasized the need for greater coordination between military units and security agencies to effectively confront Houthi activities and thwart their destabilizing efforts.

Al-Aradah met with Lieutenant General Sagheer Aziz, Chief of the General Staff of the Yemeni Armed Forces, and other military officials to discuss ongoing operations. He highlighted al-Mahra's strategic position as the gateway to eastern Yemen and called for maintaining its stability, strengthening state institutions, and protecting national interests. Meanwhile, in Hadramawt, PLC member and provincial governor Salem al-Khanbashi inspected key security points, including al-Riyan International Airport, Mukalla port, and the al-Dhabba Oil Terminal, to review security measures. He also chaired a meeting focused on readiness and emergency plans to counter potential dangers and safeguard lives.
