Two Suspects Arrested in Uganda for Aggravated Robbery

Police in Kajjansi, Wakiso District, Uganda, have apprehended two individuals suspected of participating in an aggravated robbery that occurred on August 21, 2026. The incident took place in Sekiwunga Cell, Kitende Ward, where armed assailants reportedly attacked residents and made off with various valuables.

The first suspect, identified as Derrick Kakoza, a motorcycle rider, was arrested on August 22 following an investigation into the robbery. Detectives conducted a search of his residence, which resulted in the recovery of some of the property believed to have been stolen during the attack. This recovery provided crucial leads for the ongoing investigation.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a second suspect, John Bosco Mukalasi, also known as Ali Junior, on August 25. Police records indicate that Mukalasi had been released from Kigo Prison approximately one month prior, having completed a sentence for a previous aggravated robbery case in 2023, for which he was arrested by Kira Police.

Both Kakoza and Mukalasi are currently detained at the Natete Police Station. Detectives are continuing their investigations, with plans to transfer the suspects to the Kajjansi Police Division to finalize inquiries before they are presented in court. Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, assured the public that the investigation is active and that further details will be released as progress is made.
