Two Suspects in Serial Crimes in Tanjung Bungah Apprehended

Two 29-year-old men, suspected of involvement in a series of crimes in Tanjung Bungah, Penang, have been arrested. The arrests were made on the morning of the report, with police apprehending the suspects at separate locations in Machang Bubok and Jalan Perda Timur, Bukit Mertajam, between 8:45 AM and 10:05 AM.

When this happened, police also seized several items of evidence believed to belong to the victims from both suspects during the arrest.

Penang Police Chief Datuk Dennis Lim Kwang Keng stated that the suspects are believed to be involved in multiple incidents, including house break-ins, armed robbery, trespassing, and theft of automatic gate remote controls. These alleged crimes occurred in the Tanjung Bungah area between July 28 and August 2.

Following the arrests, police seized several items believed to belong to the victims from the suspects. Four investigation papers have been opened. These include cases under Section 457 (house-breaking), Sections 392/397 (armed robbery), Section 448 (trespassing), and Section 379 (theft) of the Penal Code.

Currently, four investigation papers have been opened involving one case of house break-in under Section 457 of the Penal Code, an armed robbery case (Sections 392/397 of the Penal Code), a trespassing case (Section 448 of the Penal Code) and a case of theft of an automatic gate remote control under Section 379 of the Penal Code.

Two of the cases involve losses amounting to RM17,000, while the other two did not result in any financial loss. The suspects are scheduled to appear in court the following day to request a remand order, which will allow for further investigation into their alleged involvement in these cases.
