Two trains collide in Bedford area in UK, police say

British Transport Police are responding to reports of a collision involving two trains in the Bedford area. Emergency services, including Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue crews, are on the scene just south of Bedford. The public has been asked to avoid the location while the incident is being handled.

The collision appears to have involved two East Midlands Railway (EMR) passenger trains. Images from the aftermath show two damaged trains still on the tracks. One of the trains has been identified as a Luton Airport Express train. Passengers were seen gathering in neighboring fields following the incident.

EMR confirmed that emergency crews are dealing with the incident, which is affecting services between London St Pancras and Leicester.
