Two Women Found Dead in Separate Jamalpur Homes

Authorities in Jamalpur, Bangladesh, are investigating the deaths of two women whose bodies were discovered hanging in separate rented residences. The incidents occurred between Friday night and Saturday noon in the Jamalpur Sadar upazila, prompting police intervention and autopsies.

The most recent discovery involved Sarmin Akter, 26, whose body was found hanging in her home in the Nayapara area around noon on Saturday. Local residents alerted the national emergency helpline after noticing the situation. Police recovered the body and transported it to the Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

In a separate case, police recovered the body of Rima Akhter, 21, an honors student in the English Department at Government Ashek Mahmud College. Her body was found in her Kacharipara residence the previous night. After receiving reports of a foul odor emanating from the locked room, police and fire service personnel forced entry. Initial observations suggest Rima Akhter may have died two to three days before her body was discovered.

Nazmus Shakib, the officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, confirmed both incidents. He stated that the circumstances surrounding Rima Akhter's death would be clarified after the autopsy. Police are also working to verify her permanent address. The investigations are ongoing as authorities await further forensic results.
