Typhoon Noul forces train cancellations, school closures in southern China

Southern China is bracing for Typhoon Noul, which has triggered significant disruptions including the cancellation of rail services and the closure of schools. Authorities issued an orange typhoon alert, the second-highest warning, as the storm moves northwest across the South China Sea at 20 km/h.

Noul is expected to make landfall between Hong Kong and Huilai county in eastern Guangdong province overnight. Forecasters predict wind speeds reaching up to 151 km/h, accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds across Guangdong, Fujian, and Taiwan. The meteorological center has advised boat operators to dock their vessels and urged the cancellation of large public gatherings. Residents are strongly encouraged to remain indoors.

Rail operators in Guangdong have begun halting services, with all trains scheduled to cease operation by Sunday. While the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge remained open to traffic on Saturday morning, tours of the landmark structure have been suspended for two days as the region prepares for the storm's impact.
