Typhoon Saudel Disrupts Travel: 32 Domestic Flights, 21 Ferry Services Canceled

Typhoon Saudel significantly disrupted transportation in Taiwan on the 28th, leading to widespread cancellations of domestic flights and ferry services. The storm's approach prompted the Civil Aeronautics Administration to report 32 domestic flights canceled and two delayed as of 10 a.m. International and cross-strait air travel, however, operated normally.

Maritime transport also faced considerable impact. The Maritime and Port Bureau announced that 21 ferry services across five routes were suspended. Notably, all services between Matsu's Fuao and Fuzhou's Langqi, and between Beigan's Baisha and Fuzhou's Huangqi, were canceled. Some services between Keelung and Matsu, and between Donggang and Xiaoliuqiu, were also affected, with further announcements pending.

Authorities urged the public to refrain from traveling to outlying islands during the typhoon's passage. For those needing to return to the mainland, the advice was to utilize available ferry services promptly to avoid being stranded. The situation highlighted the vulnerability of Taiwan's transportation networks to severe weather events.
