Typhoon Shadler Could Weaken Into Tropical Depression as Rain Shifts North

Typhoon Shadler has weakened considerably and could lose its tropical-storm strength from Thursday night into early Friday, Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration said. The system is moving slowly toward the northeast, but its outer circulation will continue feeding moisture into Taiwan.

Taoyuan and northern areas, as well as Yilan, should prepare for heavy or extremely heavy rain on Thursday. Other parts of Taiwan could see brief showers or thunderstorms, with locally heavy downpours.

The weather is expected to improve gradually from Friday. Tropical systems will move away on Friday and Saturday, although northern Taiwan could still see localized heavy rain under a broad low-pressure pattern. From Sunday, conditions should become more stable, with brief showers in northern Taiwan and afternoon thunderstorms elsewhere.

Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 29 to 31 degrees Celsius over the coming week. As rainy periods shorten next week, temperatures could rise to 32 or 33 degrees.
