Typhoon White Dolphin Causes Disruptions Across Taiwan, Suspending Work and Classes in Some Areas

Typhoon "White Dolphin" swept across Taiwan, bringing significant wind and rain that led to work and class suspensions in several regions on August 9th. The storm's outer bands affected the island from the evening of August 8th through the daytime on the 9th, with conditions expected to gradually subside by the evening.

Specific areas experienced notable disruptions. Fuxing District in Taoyuan City suspended all work and classes for the entire day. Similarly, Lienchiang County also implemented a full-day suspension of work and classes.

In other parts of the island, including Hsinchu County's mountainous areas of Jianshi and Wufeng, eight elementary and middle schools declared suspensions while administrative offices remained open. However, major cities and counties such as Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Hsinchu City, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi City and County, Tainan, Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Yilan did not meet the criteria for suspending operations.

The typhoon's impact varied across the island, with the most significant rainfall occurring between the evening of August 8th and the daytime of August 9th. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, with forecasts indicating a gradual improvement in weather conditions as the typhoon moves away.
