U.S. Ambassador: Joint Efforts Hold Arms Traffickers Accountable, Over 50,000 Weapons Seized

The United States is intensifying its efforts to curb illegal arms trafficking, with Ambassador to Mexico Ronald Johnson emphasizing the accountability of weapons smugglers. "We make arms traffickers accountable, and our two nations are safer," Johnson stated, underscoring the collaborative approach between U.S. and Mexican authorities.

This commitment was recently demonstrated in Arizona, where U.S. law enforcement apprehended approximately 30 individuals and dismantled several networks involved in the illicit trade of firearms. "Every firearm stopped before it reaches a cartel represents progress," the ambassador remarked on social media, highlighting the impact of these seizures.

Johnson reiterated that these operations reflect President Donald Trump's dedication to disrupting the supply chain of illegal arms. The administration has so far confiscated over 50,000 firearms. "And we are not done yet," he added, signaling ongoing efforts to combat this transnational crime. A federal grand jury in Phoenix had previously indicted 158 charges against various individuals for conspiracy to illegally purchase firearms for trafficking, making false statements, and unlicensed trafficking.
