U2 Presents "Streets of Dreams," Their Musical Return with a Mexican Touch

Rock band U2 has unveiled "Streets of Dreams," their first new musical offering in nine years. The track, released Tuesday, features a chorus with Spanish lyrics, "La calle, la calle de los sueños" (The street, the street of dreams), sung by Bono and the band. Accompanying the song is a music video captured in Mexico City last May. The filming coincided with the final of the Street Child World Cup 2026, which took place at the Ecological Park Lake of Texcoco, an event the band also attended. Hundreds of fans gathered to watch the recording sessions near Plaza de Santo Domingo, braving heavy storms that even damaged one of the production's generators. The band performed the song atop a school bus customized by Mexican artist Chavis Mármol, with the front of the vehicle displaying "La calle de los sueños." The song itself carries a significant social message, including the line "Justice an obsession on the street of dreams." Produced by Jacknife Lee, "Street of Dreams" revisits U2's signature sound as the group approaches its 50th anniversary. The song is now available on digital download and streaming platforms. This release follows their surprise EP "Days of Ash" in February, which featured six tracks addressing current global political situations. Their last studio album, "Songs of Experience," was released in December 2017.
