UAD Appoints 11 Deans for 2026-2030 Term, Strengthening Campus Development Direction

Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) has inaugurated 11 new deans who will serve the 2026–2030 term, a significant event that marks a transfer of academic leadership across all faculties. This appointment ceremony, held at the Amphitheater of Campus IV UAD on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, is a crucial step in the university's strategic preparations for its upcoming institutional accreditation in 2027.

The newly appointed deans include Prof. Suyadi for the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Dr. Sumaryanto for the Faculty of Economics and Business, Prof. Fatwa Tentama for the Faculty of Psychology, and Prof. Wajiran for the Faculty of Literature, Culture, and Communication. Additionally, Prof. Fithriatus Shalihah was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law, Muhammad Sayuti for the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Prof. Siti Jamilatun for the Faculty of Industrial Technology, Dr. apt. Wahyuningsih for the Faculty of Pharmacy, Muhammad Syamsu Hidayat for the Faculty of Public Health, dr. Moch. Junaidy Heriyanto for the Faculty of Medicine, and Iwan Tri Riyadi Yanto for the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology.

UAD Rector, Prof. Muchlas, emphasized that the appointment of deans is more than just a change in structural positions; it represents an "estafet kepemimpinan akademik" (relay of academic leadership) that will shape the future direction of both the faculties and the university. He stated that the selection process adhered to the regulations of Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah, prioritizing professionalism, objectivity, and the values of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan. Muchlas also extended his gratitude to the faculty senates and the Regional Leadership Council of Muhammadiyah (PWM) for their input during the selection process, as well as to the outgoing deans for their dedication.

Prof. Muchlas highlighted that the achievements of UAD, including maintaining and enhancing academic quality and obtaining "Akreditasi Unggul" (Superior Accreditation), are the result of collaborative efforts. He stressed that the foundation laid by previous leadership will be vital for the new deans, especially as UAD prepares for its 2027 institutional accreditation. "We hope that each faculty will make quality culture a part of their daily work culture, so that accreditation is not seen as a temporary activity, but rather as a logical consequence of excellent and sustainable academic governance," he stated.

Looking ahead, Muchlas acknowledged the evolving landscape of higher education, influenced by artificial intelligence, digital transformation, the knowledge-based economy, and global collaboration networks. He stressed the need for universities to continuously transform and adapt to these changes, not only in producing graduates but also in navigating these new challenges and opportunities.
