UAE Residency Canceled While Abroad? How to Check Status and Return Procedures

Many expatriates residing outside the United Arab Emirates might be caught off guard to find their residency visas canceled, particularly after extended vacations or changes in employment. This situation raises immediate questions about the possibility of returning with their old visa and the necessary procedures before booking a flight.

Verifying the status of one's residency is a critical step before heading to the airport. The expiration date printed on the visa copy is not sufficient proof of its validity, as residency can be officially canceled before this date. The reasons for a visa cancellation while the holder is abroad can vary.
