UBSI Pontianak Student Wins 1st Place in International Traditional Dance Competition

Antik Avelia Carolin, a Systems Information student at the Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Pontianak campus, has achieved first place in traditional dance at an international competition. She represented Pontianak city as part of a traditional dance team during the XVIII National Working Meeting of the Association of All Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) held in Medan, North Sumatra, from June 28 to July 4, 2026.

This victory brings pride to Pontianak and adds to the international accolades of UBSI Pontianak students. The Pontianak team's performance, which showcased the region's rich arts and culture, captivated the judges and secured them the top spot. The journey to this success was arduous, involving a team composed of students from various universities, high school students, and members of art communities.

Coordinating practice schedules amidst differing university classes, work, and other activities presented a significant challenge. However, the team's shared goal of bringing honor to Pontianak fueled their commitment to regular training. They dedicated evenings to practice, focusing on building cohesion and perfecting their movements for the international stage.

Carolin expressed her surprise and gratitude for the win, feeling fortunate to have been chosen to represent Pontianak. This support motivates me to continue creating and bringing honor to the campus on various occasions," Carolin added. Yoki Firmansyah, Head of Student Affairs at UBSI Pontianak, praised Carolin's achievement, stating it proves UBSI students can compete and excel internationally in arts and culture, not just academics and technology.
