UC laments tough loss against Deportes Concepción, falling further behind in league title race

Universidad Católica experienced a disappointing 3-0 loss to Deportes Concepción at the Estadio "Ester Roa Rebolledo," significantly hindering their title aspirations in the national league's 17th round.

Deportes Concepción dominated the first half, taking an early lead in the eighth minute through Joaquín Montecinos. Despite Universidad Católica's attempts to equalize, they were caught off guard again when Joaquín Larrivey scored in the 31st minute.

In the second half, Universidad Católica showed renewed determination, pushing for an equalizer. However, Deportes Concepción effectively countered, extending their lead with a goal from Norman Rodríguez in the 69th minute. A late goal for Deportes Concepción was disallowed due to an offside call.

This result propelled Deportes Concepción to tenth place in the league table with 20 points. Universidad Católica remains in second place with 27 points, now trailing league leaders Colo Colo by 15 points. Universidad Católica is set to host Cobresal next, while Deportes Concepción will face Universidad de Concepción in a local derby.
