Ugandan Immigration Officers Promoted, Urged to Embrace Professionalism

Newly promoted immigration officers in Uganda have been urged to embody professionalism, humility, respect, and teamwork as they assume greater responsibilities. The message was conveyed by Kepher Kateu Kuchana, Chief Government Chemist, who represented the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Internal Affairs at a recent pipping ceremony in Kampala.

The ceremony celebrated officers within the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control who had earned promotions. The Permanent Secretary's message congratulated the officers, framing their advancement not merely as a recognition but as a call to higher ethical standards and accountability. Kuchana further advised the officers to approach their new leadership roles with humility and a spirit of collaboration, stressing that national security is a collective effort requiring cooperation across all directorates within the ministry. "Let integrity be your compass. No single directorate can secure this country alone. Remember that our ultimate client is the ordinary Ugandan citizen," he emphasized.

Representing the newly promoted officers, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration Jabel Male pledged their commitment to justifying the trust placed in them. He stated that the officers would uphold the laws, regulations, policies, and values governing public service, promising to perform their duties with diligence and impartiality. The ceremony was attended by senior ministry officials, including the Director of Citizenship and Immigration Control, Commissioners of Immigration, and family members of the promoted officers.
