UK-based Nigerian woman refuses £15 million to return home, citing child loss

A Nigerian woman residing in the United Kingdom has firmly stated her unwillingness to relocate back to Nigeria, regardless of financial incentives. She explained that her decision is deeply rooted in personal tragedy, having lost two children to alleged medical negligence in Nigeria.

During an interview, the woman, who is from Ogun State, was presented with hypothetical offers, starting at £200,000 (approximately ₦400 million) and escalating to £15 million. She rejected each offer outright, emphasizing that her departure from Nigeria was not motivated by monetary gain but by a profound loss.

Recounting the painful experience, she mentioned that healthcare professionals in the UK expressed disbelief when she shared her story. "Every time I tell the doctors here that my children died because of this, they all ask me, 'Are you joking?'" she said. The woman also shared that the positive experience with the UK healthcare system, particularly after the birth of her son, reinforced her decision to remain in the country. "When I had my son, I know my son, if he was back in Nigeria, he would have died also. But because I had him here (UK), there was medical attention. They did what needed to be done and he’s fine," she added.
