UK Reform party calls Ceuta migrant arrivals an 'invasion,' claims Moroccans targeting UK

Nigel Farage's populist right-wing party, Reform UK, has characterized the recent influx of migrants into Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta as an "invasion" and asserted that Moroccan nationals are attempting to reach the United Kingdom.

Zia Yusuf, the party's spokesperson for Interior, traveled to Ceuta and shared his observations on social media platform X. He stated, "I am in Ceuta, the scene of the invasion of 60,000 people," referring to the large number of migrants who crossed the border from Morocco on Thursday and Friday. Yusuf added that he had spoken with Moroccan men in Ceuta who claimed they were trying to get to Britain, promising further information.

Yusuf's visit and statements follow comments by his party leader, Nigel Farage, who described the situation in Ceuta as "a battle for the future of our civilization." Yusuf also noted that "Spain has de facto militarized its border," accompanying his posts with photographs of himself in Ceuta among military personnel and appearing to speak with migrants.

Reform UK, which saw significant gains in recent local and regional elections, has made curbing irregular migration across the English Channel a central theme of its political agenda. The party's focus on immigration comes as the UK Home Office reported 752 migrants arrived irregularly on English coasts from France on Thursday, marking the highest daily figure since December 20.
