Ukraine air attacks kill two, wound 17 in Russia's south

Ukrainian air attacks targeted southern Russian cities on Monday, resulting in two deaths and 17 injuries, according to regional authorities. The strikes hit Rostov-on-Don and Belgorod, areas close to the Ukrainian border.

In Rostov-on-Don, a major export hub, a couple from the same family was killed. Five other individuals sustained injuries, with two reported to be in critical condition. Regional governor Yuri Slyusar stated that falling drone debris caused fires at several locations, including warehouses, and damaged a residential apartment building.

Belgorod also experienced a drone attack that wounded 12 people, including two children, and ignited a fire in a residential building. Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian strikes killed one person and wounded seven others within Ukraine. These incidents occurred in the southern city of Zaporizhzhia and the northern Sumy region.

Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the ongoing conflict. Reuters could not independently verify the reports from either side.
