Ukraine: Baby Killed in Russian Drone Attack

A Russian drone attack has claimed the life of a three-month-old baby in the southeastern Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk. The infant died when a drone struck a residential building in the front-line city of Marhanets, according to military governor Oleksandr Hanscha.

The attack injured eleven other people, including a five-year-old boy and a twelve-year-old girl. Multiple-story apartment buildings, a shop, and a cinema sustained damage. Hanscha reported that Russia deployed drones, artillery, and glide bombs in several assaults on the region. In the Zaporizhzhia region, three individuals were wounded in drone attacks on vehicles, as per military governor Ivan Fedorov.

Meanwhile, Ukraine reportedly targeted an industrial facility in Russia's Samara region with a missile attack, according to Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishev. Unverified photos and videos circulating on social media showed a large plume of smoke. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed attacks, including one on a key Roscosmos space agency enterprise that manufactures electronics. He stated that Ukrainian Flamingo cruise missiles were used.

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed to have intercepted 598 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory and the annexed Crimean Peninsula. These claims could not be independently verified but indicate the intensity of Ukrainian counterattacks. In the Moscow region, a woman and a nine-year-old child were injured by a Ukrainian drone strike, Governor Andrey Vorobyov reported. Russia has been waging a destructive war in Ukraine for nearly four and a half years, and Ukraine has expanded its drone counterattacks into Russian territory in recent months.
