Ukraine Claims Downing 109 of 133 Russian Drones Overnight

Ukraine's Air Force announced on Sunday that its defenses successfully neutralized 109 out of 133 Russian drones launched overnight. The aerial assault, which began Saturday evening and continued into early Sunday morning, involved various drone types, including Shahed attack drones, Gerbera, Italmas, and Banderol loitering munitions.

According to preliminary reports from the Air Force, the downed or suppressed drones were detected over northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. Despite these successes, 24 attack drones managed to hit 19 different locations, and fragments from destroyed drones fell in three other unspecified areas.

According to preliminary data, as of 8:00 (Sunday), air defenses had shot down/suppressed 109 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types, Banderol loitering drones, and drones of other types over the north, south, and east of the country.

In a broader assessment of the ongoing conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia had launched approximately 1,900 drones, nearly 1,600 bombs, and 144 missiles across 16 Ukrainian regions in the past week. He also reported a fatality in Brovary, Kyiv region, caused by a drone impact, with six others injured.

Zelenskyy urged Ukraine's allies to impose wider sanctions, specifically targeting Russian companies involved in producing components for drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs. He emphasized the need for pressure on every segment of Russia's defense industrial complex to ultimately reduce the number of attacks on Ukrainian civilians.
