Ukrainian drones strike Russian warehouse, refinery, airfield; two dead

Ukrainian drone attacks claimed two lives in Russia's Saratov region early Friday, with additional reports of fires at a refinery and an airfield. The attacks also extended to the neighboring Samara region, where a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, often referred to as Russia's Amazon, caught fire.

"Two people died as a result of an enemy drone attack," stated Saratov Governor Roman Busargin on social media. While regional authorities initially reported damage only to a residential apartment, Telegram channels indicated fires at an airfield and a Rosneft refinery. In the Samara region, a separate Wildberries warehouse was targeted, causing a fire. The company confirmed the incident, stating, "The attack on the company's logistics facility in the Samara region caused a fire. Firefighters are on the scene. There are no casualties."

The Telegram channel Astra noted the proximity of a large Russian flag painted on the ground, accompanied by the "Z" and "V" symbols, markers of support for the war in Ukraine, to the Samara warehouse. Russia's Ministry of Defense reported that its air defenses intercepted a total of 635 Ukrainian drones overnight across numerous regions, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Saratov, Tambov, Tula, the Moscow region, Krasnodar, and Crimea. Drones were also intercepted over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
