Ukraine kills 12 in Russian city of Nizhnekamsk - mayor

A Ukrainian drone attack targeted the industrial city of Nizhnekamsk in Russia's Tatarstan region, killing at least 12 people and injuring 39, according to city mayor Radmir Belyayev. The attack struck industrial and civilian sites, including the region's major oil refinery, one of Russia's most advanced. Unverified social media videos showed smoke rising over what appeared to be the refinery. Tatneft's TANECO refinery, which processes millions of tons of crude oil annually, was previously hit by Ukraine in early June. Tatarstan head Rustam Minnikhanov has declared a period of mourning following the attack. Ukraine has intensified strikes on Russian oil refineries in recent months, aiming to disrupt fuel supplies, though authorities claim initial shortages have been resolved. In a separate incident, a Russian artillery strike on Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region killed five people in the village of Bugaivka, regional prosecutors reported.
