Ulu Tembeling residents plead for urgent road paving

Residents of Ulu Tembeling are appealing for the swift completion of road paving to their villages. The current unpaved routes are hindering the transport of agricultural produce to market and making daily travel difficult. For those involved in tourism, the condition of the roads is also a concern, impacting visitor access to areas like Kampung Bantal Seberang and Kampung Bukit Mat Daling.

The roads, some of which have only received laterite stone base, have been under construction for several years. Residents are frustrated by the prolonged period of waiting for tar surfacing, which they say leads to muddy conditions after rain and a bumpy, uneven ride. The six-kilometer stretch to Kampung Bantal Seberang and the eight-kilometer route to Kampung Bukit Mat Daling are particularly in need of attention.

Ahmad Hairi Timban, a resident of Kampung Bukit Mat Daling, emphasized that a paved road is a primary necessity. He expressed the community's long-standing desire for a more comfortable and secure route. "How much longer must we wait for the road surface to be tarred to avoid gravel paths, muddy conditions after rain, and uneven surfaces?" he asked. He added that the road is not excessively long from the main junction and should be completed without delay.

The community's needs extend beyond personal convenience. They require a smooth road for transporting their produce to the city and for government agencies to provide services to the villages. The current state of the road presents a significant obstacle to these essential activities.
