UMY Career Fair 2026 Targets Jobs for 80% of Applicants

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta’s 2026 career fair is aiming to move 80% of its roughly 500 applicants into jobs with partner companies.

The positions opened by the 20 partner companies are very diverse, ranging from engineering and management to positions open to fresh graduates from all majors.

The event brought together about 20 state-owned and private firms, including both new partners and companies that have memorandums of understanding with UMY. Vacancies covered engineering, management and positions open to fresh graduates from any field.

The fair also offered preparation for students and alumni before they entered the industrial sector. One participant, a 2022 UMY international relations graduate, said the sessions explained how companies recruit and how applicants can present their qualifications more effectively. The seminar and company presentation sessions drew particular interest, especially because several prominent banks took part.

From around 500 applicants, we hope at least 80 percent can be absorbed by partner companies.

Recruitment will continue after the fair, with some companies planning further selection stages and tests. Organizers said participation at last year’s event reached as many as 1,000 people. To support more alumni seeking work, UMY’s student affairs directorate plans to expand campus hiring, which companies said allows recruitment to follow their specific staffing timelines more closely.
