UNAM assigns 1,743 places through ‘Your Second Option’ process, bringing new entrants to 50,817

The National Autonomous University of Mexico assigned 1,743 undergraduate places through its “Your Second Option” process, bringing total first-year enrollment for the 2026-2027/1 academic cycle to 50,817 students.

The university said the extraordinary call targeted applicants who were not selected after taking the Control Exam. Participants could register three degree alternatives and check their assignment online using their application number. They can report to their campus school-services office from Monday, September 7, with proof of acceptance and official photo identification. On Tuesday, September 8, they can download the additional documents needed to complete enrollment through “TU SITIO.”

UNAM made places available in 73 degree programs at 17 academic units and campuses in Mexico City and other parts of the country. The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters received the largest number of assigned students, with 258, followed by FES Acatlán with 247, ENES Morelia with 222, ENES León with 184, and the Faculty of Music with 172.

Other assignments included 128 places at ENES Juriquilla, 127 at the National School of Social Work, 103 at ENES Mérida, 68 at FES Aragón, 60 at FES Zaragoza Campus II Tlaxcala, and 58 at FES Cuautitlán. Smaller allocations included 27 places at ENES Oaxaca and 26 at the Renewable Energy Institute in Temixco, Morelos.

Students assigned to Translation, Music and Technology, Applied Linguistics, English Teaching, Singing, Composition, Music Education, Ethnomusicology, Instrumental Performance, and Piano must meet the prerequisites for those programs. Those who do not meet them may request a move to their second or third registered choice. With the results published, UNAM concluded the assignment process for undergraduate places.
