Unchanged Drua named for historic home grand final

The McDonald's Fiji Drua Women's team will field an unchanged 23-player squad for Saturday's historic Super Rugby Women's Grand Final against the NSW Waratahs in Ba. Head coach Mike Legge has retained the lineup that dominated the Queensland Reds 31-5 in the semi-final, opting for continuity in the combination that earned the club its first home grand final.

Veteran prop Karalaini Naisewa will make her 31st appearance for the Drua, starting at loosehead prop alongside hooker Keleni Marawa and tighthead prop Tiana Robanakadavu. The second row consists of Mereoni Nakesa and Carletta Yee, with Nunia Daunimoala, Salaseini Railumu, and Sulita Waisega forming the loose forward trio. Captain Kolora Lomani will lead the team from halfback, partnered by Varanisese Qoro in the halves.

The backline features Aqela Raitubu on the left wing, Josivini Naihamu and Merewairita Neivoha in the midfield, Atelaite Buna on the right wing, and Litiana Vueti at fullback. The bench includes Bitila Tawake, Zipporah Sorokacika, Keri Lawavou, Karavaki Lutumaibau, Alfreda Fisher, Evivi Senikarivi, Ivamere Rokowati, and Verenaisi Ditavutu.

The Drua Women are poised to make further history by potentially becoming the first Fijian team to clinch a Super Rugby Women's title on home ground. They will face the Waratahs at the 4R Stadium at Govind Park, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on FBC Sports.
