Undana Launches Village Website to Prevent Corruption

Universitas Nusa Cendana (Undana) has launched an official website for Mburukulu Village in Sumba Timur, East Nusa Tenggara. This initiative is a strategic effort to boost transparency in governance and combat corruption related to the management of village funds.

Dr. Karolus Kopong Medan, an academic from Undana's Faculty of Law, emphasized that digitizing village administration is crucial for minimizing corruption. He stated that when record-keeping and reporting are digital and accessible to the public, budget utilization becomes more transparent and accountable. This openness, he believes, enhances the accountability of village officials and strengthens public trust in village governance.

Digitalization is an important instrument for narrowing the opportunities for corruption. When recording and reporting are done digitally and can be accessed by the public, budget use becomes more transparent and accountable.

The newly launched website will function as a central hub for public information. It will feature the village's profile, public services, development programs, and details on the use of village funds. Beyond transparency, the website aims to promote Mburukulu Village's key potentials, including its agriculture, livestock, culture, and tourism sectors, making them accessible to a wider audience.

Following the legal counseling session, the Undana Community Service team provided training to village officials on website management. This training covered uploading information, updating data, and operating all available features, ensuring the village government can manage the digital platform independently and sustainably. Mburukulu Village is now the first in the Pahunga Lodu sub-district to have an official website, serving as a model for other villages in Sumba Timur aiming for transparent, accountable, and corruption-free governance.
