Unique 'MERDEKA 69' Installation at Politeknik Seberang Perai Showcases Patriotism and TVET Skills

Students at Politeknik Seberang Perai (PSP) in Malaysia have devised an innovative way to celebrate National Month and Independence Day. They installed a distinctive 'MERDEKA 69' decorative piece at the institution's main entrance, embodying their patriotic spirit.

This unique installation, conceived by Ts. Mohamad Annuar Morzuke, Deputy Director of Academic Support at PSP, merges technology with sustainability. The 'MERDEKA 69' letters were precisely crafted using laser-cutting technology, ensuring a high-quality finish. Complementing this, a solar-powered lighting system provides an eco-friendly illumination source.

The production of this project also provides students with the opportunity to apply the skills they have learned in real-world situations, from idea, digital design, fabrication process, installation to lighting system development.

The project provided students with a practical platform to apply their learned skills, from initial concept and digital design to fabrication, installation, and lighting system development. This corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative not only brightens the campus environment but also highlights the application of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) knowledge and technology in creating patriotic works.

Mohamad Annuar emphasized that the project strengthens students' soft skills, including teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and project management, while instilling volunteerism and national pride. He expressed hope that the 'MERDEKA 69' installation serves as a symbol that TVET graduates are not only technologically adept but also capable of contributing their expertise to their institution, community, and country.
