UNM Informatics Master's Student Publishes AI Research in Top International Journal

Nasir Hamzah, a Master's student in Informatics at Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), has achieved international recognition by publishing his research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a top-tier Scopus-indexed Q1 journal. The paper, titled 'Attention-Based Explainability for Cross-Lingual Neural Information Retrieval in Low-Resource Languages,' demonstrates the quality of research produced by UNM students.

The research delves into explainable AI (XAI) and neural information retrieval, specifically addressing the challenge of cross-lingual information systems for languages with limited digital resources. Hamzah's work utilizes an attention mechanism to enhance the transparency of AI models, making their decision-making processes easier to understand. This is particularly relevant in the current digital transformation era, as it promotes more inclusive and accurate information retrieval technologies for under-resourced languages.

Wawan Kurniawan, UNM's Marketing and Communications Coordinator, lauded Hamzah's accomplishment, emphasizing that it validates the university's dedication to cultivating a strong research culture and producing globally competitive graduates.
