Unusual Political Summer: Parliament Convenes for Extraordinary Session as President Pledges to Sign PNRR Laws

The Romanian Parliament is set to convene for a new extraordinary session from August 3 to August 6, aiming to adopt crucial legislation tied to the country's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This legislative push underscores Romania's commitment to meeting its PNRR targets and securing associated funding.

A primary item on the Senate's agenda is the approval of the National Biodiversity Strategy. This strategy is a significant milestone within the PNRR, with an estimated value of around one billion euros. The Senate's schedule includes work in permanent committees on Monday and Thursday, with plenary sessions planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Chamber of Deputies will also hold sessions this week, including final voting plenaries on Monday and Wednesday, and committee work on Tuesday and Thursday. Key legislative proposals include modifications to laws concerning integrity and several initiatives already passed by the Senate. These efforts are critical for advancing Romania's PNRR objectives.
