Updated Draft Findings Against Golob Reportedly Incriminating

Slovenia's anti-corruption commission (KPK) has reportedly issued a second draft of its findings concerning Prime Minister Robert Golob, which may be more damaging than the first.

The commission is investigating allegations of a conflict of interest related to Golob's decisions on appointing businessmen, specifically Tomaž Subotič, to the supervisory boards of the Celje hospital and Ljubljana psychiatric clinic. The KPK is examining whether Golob's private interests influenced or appeared to influence his impartial performance of public duties.

According to Pop TV, the second draft, adopted on May 7, includes additional evidence that allegedly highlights the close relationship between Golob and Subotič, suggesting Golob should have recused himself from the decision-making process. However, Golob's lawyer, Stojan Zdolšek, told the TV station that he does not see any new relevant evidence in the draft and that they will respond to it.

The case, dubbed the "Karigador affair," gained public attention last April when it was revealed that Golob and his then-partner Tina Gaber vacationed at Subotič's property in the summer of 2023. Following the revelations, Subotič resigned from his position at the Celje hospital's supervisory board, and the government had already recalled him from the Ljubljana psychiatric clinic's board.
