Stelzer, known more as a manager than a stern patriarch, expressed his "disgust" at the "counter-deals" and "squabbling" that have characterized the coalition's recent actions.

Stelzer stressed that the "chancellor's party" needs to "show more of what we want to do with Austria," suggesting a lack of clear direction from the federal leadership.

His current polling numbers are considerably stronger than those of the federal ÖVP, providing him with a perceived advantage.
