UPSI Considers Opening First Private Hospital in Tanjung Malim

Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) is seriously considering establishing its first private hospital in Tanjung Malim, a move aimed at addressing the increasing healthcare demands of its international student and staff population.

According to UPSI Vice-Chancellor Prof. Datuk Dr. Md. Amin Md. Taff, this initiative is a strategic plan to provide appropriate support facilities that align with current developments and community needs. The university is actively evaluating potential collaborations with private healthcare providers and studying various business models to bring this vision to fruition.

"We are trying to get any private hospital, private specialist hospital to operate in Tanjung Malim or within our land at UPSI. We are looking at how the business model concept works," Md. Amin stated. He emphasized that this plan is in line with future requirements as UPSI and Tanjung Malim continue to grow as educational hubs, necessitating quality support services.

Beyond the hospital, UPSI also harbors long-term aspirations to develop retirement facilities in Tanjung Malim. This would allow retired university staff to remain connected to the campus community, further integrating the university with the local area and providing a comprehensive support ecosystem for its members throughout their lives.
