Uruguay Police Seek Two Suspects in Bank Robbery, Detain One

Uruguayan police have apprehended one suspect and are actively searching for two more in connection with a brazen daylight robbery at a Banco República (Brou) branch in Pando, Canelones. The incident, which occurred on Monday, saw four armed men storm the bank.

The investigation continues, this Wednesday a search was carried out in the city of Barros Blancos, where the objective could not be apprehended at that time, although some more elements were found to continue with the investigation.

During a press conference, Police Chief Fabio Quevedo announced that while one man was detained following searches in Montevideo, two other individuals have been identified and are now wanted. "The investigation continues," Quevedo stated, noting that a search in Barros Blancos yielded further clues. The vehicle used by the robbers to flee the scene was also discovered in Montevideo. Authorities have identified the two wanted men as Inti Camilo Cuba Vignolo, 38, who has prior convictions for robbery, and Paul Alexander Cosella Cabrera, 32, with a history of receiving stolen goods, cattle rustling, bribery, and theft.

The bank branch, located at General Artigas and Solís, was targeted around 5:50 PM. The assailants, mostly masked, brandished firearms. They intimidated staff and customers, and subdued two security guards, stealing their .38 caliber revolvers and ammunition. One guard sustained a head injury during the assault.
