Uruguay's Winter Lottery to Award Millions on July 24

Uruguay's National Directorate of Lotteries and Casinos is set to host the inaugural "Gordo de Invierno" (Winter Fat Prize) on July 24, 2026. This special winter edition of the traditional lottery promises substantial winnings, with the top prize reaching $90 million (approximately US$2.2 million) and total prize money exceeding $250 million (around US$6.2 million).

The lottery features a multi-tiered prize structure. Beyond the main prizes, there are additional awards for specific number terminations of the first prize, including five prizes of $300,000 for the last four digits, fifty prizes of $210,000 for the last three digits, and numerous smaller prizes for matching the last two or last digits of the top winning numbers. An extra accumulative prize of $250,000 is also on offer.

Tickets for the Gordo de Invierno went on sale June 8, with 5,000 whole tickets issued. A full ticket is priced at $9,000, while individual tenths are available for $900. Recognizing the need for broader accessibility, the lottery also offers an electronic fraction option for $300. This initiative is supported by a network of over 7,000 sales points nationwide, ensuring that participation is convenient for a wide range of players.
