Uruguayan Player Kevin Altez Expelled After Headbutting Referee in Chilean Football Match

A heated moment in Chilean football saw Uruguayan midfielder Kevin Altez ejected from the field after headbutting referee Héctor Jona during the 3-3 draw between Huachipato and Cobresal.

The incident unfolded in the 86th minute when Huachipato was trailing 3-2. Players were protesting Jona's decision to stop play instead of applying the advantage rule following a collision between two Cobresal players. In the ensuing confrontation, Altez stepped up to the referee and delivered a headbutt.

Referee Jona confirmed he was struck in the nose by Altez, an act that could result in a significant disciplinary penalty for the player. Altez, in his first season with Huachipato after playing for Montevideo City Torque, Defensor Sporting, and Uruguay's youth national teams, has accumulated two goals, one assist, and three yellow cards in 21 matches this season prior to his expulsion.
