US Halts Bombardments on Iran as Trump Pursues Diplomatic Solution

The United States military has ceased nearly two weeks of continuous airstrikes on Iran, a move President Donald Trump has made to allow greater room for diplomacy amid escalating conflict. Trump ordered U.S. forces not to execute new attacks on Friday, reportedly after discussions with advisors about a "massive attack" but also acknowledging ongoing talks with Iran for a diplomatic agreement.

This pause comes after a period of intensified conflict, which began on February 28. The recent exchanges had raised the number of U.S. military deaths to 18 since the war's start. During this time, oil prices neared $100 per barrel, a level not seen since May. Israeli officials had been preparing for a significant U.S. bombardment but were informed of Trump's decision to postpone, giving Iran another chance at the negotiating table, according to Israeli public broadcaster KAN.

Iran's Health Minister, Hossein Kermanpour, shared on social media that there were fortunately no attacks the previous night, noting that "our dear Iran had a quiet night." These developments coincide with Qatar's announcement to resume all maritime navigation activities for all vessel types starting Sunday, following more than 10 days of suspension due to the regional escalation between Iran and the United States. However, Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary, Mohamad Baqer Zolqadr, warned that attacks against U.S. interests would continue "until the total surrender of the enemy."
